These cute little Chihuahua dogs are made from strip pieced batik scraps, so this is a wonderful way to use up those brown batik strips you’ve been saving. Batiks don’t fray as much as regular cotton fabrics, which makes them perfect for applique.
The finished table runner measures 10" x 20" and also makes a sweet small wall hanging.
What’s included:
Step-by-step instructions with color photos
Full-size templates for both Chihuahuas (one facing each direction)
A bonus page of smaller dogs for mug rugs, each fits on a 6-inch square
Yardage and cutting instructions
Fabric requirements:
Brown batik scraps, about 10" long and 1" to 1½" wide
1/3 yard neutral fabric for the background blocks
1/3 yard binding fabric (leftovers can go into your strip piecing)
1/3 yard backing and batting
You’ll also need Heat n Bond Lite fusible web. Use your favorite applique method. A straight stitch, blanket stitch, or zigzag all work well.
The applique was created using AI tools and Photoshop based on my custom prompts.
